DONATION DESTINATION

CHOCOLABO inc.

Japan’s first social service chocolate factory is the core business of the CHOCOLABO Group. It operates Chocolabo stores. This company produces and sells specialty sweets such as chocolates and baked goods using a “bean to bar” method that keeps the entire production process in-house, from cacao bean to finished chocolate, while also creating employment for persons with disabilities in a workplace environment that respects diversity. TRUNK (HOTEL) has collaborated with this company to create products carried by TRUNK (STORE) since the opening of TRUNK (HOTEL) Cat Street in 2017. The company expects to use our contribution to fund the planning and development of new products whose packaging will incorporate artwork by persons with disabilities as an element of its awareness-raising efforts as well as to purchase materials needed to bring products to market.

Certified non-profit organization ReBit

ReBit was established in 2009 as a certified NPO whose goal is to promote a society in which LGBTQ individuals can learn, work, and live openly. Since then, the organization has held over two thousand classes and training sessions regarding LGBTQ issues at schools, government offices, and businesses. Additionally, they have established two sites, in Tokyo and Osaka, to provide career support for over 12,000 LGBTQ individuals as well as social support services aimed mainly at “double” minorities (those who are both LGBTQ and have mental illnesses or developmental disabilities). This organization plans to utilize our contribution mainly to conduct on-site educational sessions to promote understanding among children and adults in the field of education about the conditions in which about 70% of LGBTQ youth have experienced bullying and about half have experienced suicidal ideation in the last year. The contribution will also support the organization’s other educational efforts, career support, and social services while sustaining efforts to create an environment in which LGBTQ individuals can live openly without fear.

Certified non-profit organization KIDSDOOR

This organization espouses a vision of a society in which all children can have hopes and dreams. They aim to create a society in which children can thrive and grow no matter the circumstances of their birth and work to solve the problem of poverty among children in Japan. They have created safe places for learning with the goal of providing free study sessions and support for living such as meals, targeted at children from impoverished families from elementary school to high school age. They have also established a Family Support system for families with children nationwide that provides information, assistance with food and school supplies, and career support for parents and guardians. They plan to use our contribution to provide food assistance over summer holidays to impoverished families registered with their Family Support system. For impoverished families already unable to afford three full meals a day, the lack of school lunches during summer holidays exacerbates poverty even further. Delivery of food to such households supports the mental and physical health of both parents and children.

YUZURIHA Aftercare Consultation Center

Yuzuriha opened in 2011 as a consultation center for adults who have aged out of orphanages or who have survived abusive or controlling homes without being taken into institutional custody. The center provides services including free consultation, supportive escort to government offices, hospitals, or the police according to individual needs, the hosting of social gatherings, study sessions for high school graduates, and programs for parents who have engaged in abusive behavior (the MY TREE program). They plan to use our contribution to fund the establishment of a new complex of facilities, the Yuzuriha Asylum. The Yuzuriha Asylum is envisioned as a place where individuals can temporarily take refuge from society and their current situations as well as a community space that can be used by local residents.

In response to the enormous damage caused by the Noto Peninsula earthquake in 2024, we have contributed to the Japanese Red Cross Society in the amount of one million yen to support relief and recovery efforts. We sincerely hope for the earliest possible recovery of the affected region and will continue our efforts to provide support to those areas.

From next year, we plan to accept general applications from organizations, businesses, and individuals who resonate with our concept of “socializing.” The beginning of the public application process will be announced on our official site and other media channels.

In addition, the certified NPO Mori wa Umi no Koibito (“the forest is the lover of the sea”) will receive a donation of a portion of the proceeds of oysters sold at the all-day restaurant Pizzeria e Trattoria L’Ombelico and guest-only rooftop pool and lounge TRUNK (POOL CLUB) of TRUNK (HOTEL) Yoyogi Park, which opened in September of last year. This organization is based in Kesennuma, Miyagi Prefecture, and works to preserve the ocean with activities in the three categories of environmental education, forest cultivation, and conservation of the natural environment. TRUNK (HOTEL) Yoyogi Park endorses their activities and contributes to their cause with the goal of linking oyster consumption to support for the conservation of the seas.

Non Profit Organization Musubie: National Children's Shokudo (Cafeteria) Support Center
The 2018 funds funded Manga Comic which helped to better communicate the organization's vision of "all are welcome; we are not limited to helping children with no food to eat". The Manga artist was chosen from a nation-wide submission. The Manga Comic can be viewed on the Musubie website as of October 1st.

Non Profit Organization Good Aging Yells
"Pride House Tokyo 2019" is a pop-up support center that provides information to LGBT and sexual minority communities beginning on September 20th. A portion of the funds were used to build a library of LGBT picture/photo books from around the world.

Shibuya Honeybee Project
On April 28th, this group participated in the Urban Farmers Summit 2019 event at Garden Place, spreading the word about the effects of Global Warming and honey collecting workshops, specifically cherry blossom honey as well as honey collected from flowers growing on Shibuya rooftops. Part of the funds were used for this event.

More Trees Inc.
The funds were partially used to reforest trees in Morotsuka City in Miyazaki Prefecture, the birthplace of Tsumiki (wooden building blocks) that are also sold at TRUNK(STORE). Morotsuka City is the first FSC approved city in the Kyushu region and is likewise the first city ever in Japan to be recognized for the efforts it’s undertaken single-handedly. The FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) approval is given to wood and wood products sourced from forests that are maintained and managed sustainably, as well as by this vision that considers the environment, communities, and economy.
