Sandra Jockus solo exhibition DOGGO
New York-based artist Sandra will be hosting a solo exhibition from May 24-26. Sandra will be available for daily chats throughout the exhibition. Additionally, she invites everyone to join the opening gathering on Friday from 6 pm to enjoy and connect.
Artist Profile:
Originally from a small town in Lithuania, Sandra pursued her education in Germany/Berlin and resided in Tokyo from 2009 to 2018. During her time in Tokyo, she studied fashion design at Bunka Fashion College and worked for brands like UNDERCOVER post-graduation. Now based in New York as a freelance artist, Sandra embraces the city’s cultural diversity. Her artwork is influenced by her observations of people and their canine companions on the streets, as well as her experiences in Japan with its distinct seasons, traditions, and vibrant urban landscapes, which continue to inspire her work.
About the exhibition “DOGGO”:
In 2020, Sandra was introduced to her dog, Trevor. Despite her previous affinity for cats, Sandra quickly became enamored with her new pet due to her deep love for animals. Embracing dog ownership led her to new experiences and connections, inspiring her latest art pieces. Dogs, including her own, became significant sources of inspiration for her work, prompting Sandra to dedicate an entire exhibition to her dog-inspired creations. Additionally, Sandra incorporates elements of Californian vibes, such as palm trees, beautiful sunsets, and vibrant colors, into her art

アーティスト・プロフィール：
リトアニアの小さな町で生まれ、ドイツ/ベルリンで学び、2009年から2018年まで東京に在住していたサンドラ。東京では文化服装学院でファッションデザインを学び、卒業後はUNDERCOVERなどのブランドで活躍しました。現在はニューヨークを拠点とするフリーランスのアーティストとして、都市の多様性を楽しんでいます。彼女の作品は、街中で人々や彼らの犬との観察に基づいており、また、日本での季節、伝統、そしてネオンライトといった素材も彼女の作品に影響を与えています。
展示会「DOGGO」について：
2020年に、サンドラは彼女の犬トレバーと出会いました。以前は猫が好きだった彼女ですが、動物への深い愛情から新しいペットにすぐに魅了されました。犬を飼うことで、彼女は新しい経験や人々とのつながりを得ました。彼女の最新のアート作品にインスピレーションを与えました。彼女自身の犬を含む周りの犬たちは、彼女の作品の重要なインスピレーション源となり、サンドラは犬に触発された作品をひとつの展示会にまとめることにしました。また、サンドラは、パームツリーや美しい夕日、鮮やかな色彩など、カリフォルニアの雰囲気を彼女のアートに取り入れています。
