この度、澁澤羅貴の個展「kagerou」を開催いたします。
澁澤羅貴は東京を拠点に活動している写真家です。東京の下町で育った澁澤が、さまざまな経験を経て、写真の世界に足を
踏み入れたのは、一般的には遅いとされる30歳の頃でした。フォトスタジオに2年勤務したのち、国内外で活躍する新田桂一氏の第一アシスタントとして3年師事し、
2019年に独立。その後、さまざまなクライアントワークの合間に、個人プロジェクトを進行してきました。
「kagerou」と題された今回の展示は、澁澤の初個展となります。かげろう(陽炎)とは、春の暖かな日に、熱された地面から炎の
ような揺めきが立ちのぼる現象のことです。また、カタカナのカゲロウは、とんぼに似た命の短い昆虫の名前として知られています。
今回の作品群は、彼の大切にしていた人たちとの別れから現在に至るまでの気持ちの流れを表した、日記的なものたちです。
とても寂しく、迷い彷徨った時間であったと語る澁澤が切り取った日常の瞬間は、一見孤独な雰囲気を漂わせますが、同時に
ぬるま湯に浸かっているような暖かさも感じることができます。
澁澤は、寂しさの中で初めて自分自身を振り返り、見つめなおし、他者と自分との関係性について考えることができたと話します。彼が経験した寂しさとその間に見つけた希望は、ノスタルジックでとても平凡です。それは、誰もが子供の頃に見た夢のような、儚く尊いものを、思い出させてくれます。
作家ステートメント
「数年前、大切にしていた人たちや思い出から、離れることを決めた。
別々の道を行く事になってからは、どこにいても、何をしていても、いつも心のどこかに彼らの面影を感じ、何度も立ち止まり、
賑やかだった道へ引き返そうとする思いが、繰り返し続いた。
懐かしく、寂しく、迷い彷徨った。
その時間こそが、今私が歩み始めた道を作ってくれたとおもう。」
TRUNK(HOTEL) is pleased to present a solo exhibition of Tokyo based photographer Raki Shibusawa titled "kagerou" from February 21st, 2021.
Raki grew up in downtown Tokyo and entered the photography world after various experiences when he was 30 years old, which is generally considered a late start.
Despite that, he worked as a photo studio assistant for two years and gained an opportunity to study under Keiichi Nitta, a Japanese photographer renowned both in Japan and overseas. After three years of working as Keiichi's first assistant, Raki became a freelance photographer in 2019 and continued to pursue his personal projects between various client works.
This show, entitled "kagerou" will be Raki's first solo exhibition. Kagerou (heat haze) is a phenomenon in which a fiery tremor rises from the heated ground on a warm spring day. When written in Katakana, it is also known as a short-lived insect that resembles a dragonfly.
The works in the exhibition are diary-like photographs that show the flow of feelings Raki encountered after he parted ways with the people he cherished, to the present day. They give out a lonely and melancholic atmosphere at first glance, but at the same time, they reminisce warmth as if you are being immersed in lukewarm water.
Raki says that in this solitude, for the first time ever, he was able to look back on himself, his surroundings, and his relationship with others. The loneliness he experienced and the hope he found within are nostalgic and very, very ordinary. They remind us of the ephemeral and precious moments of a dream we once had as a child.
Artist Statement
A few years ago, I made a decision to separate from the people and memories I cherished.
After going on different paths, no matter where I was or what I was doing, I always felt them somewhere in my heart. I stopped many times and tried to return to them, the moments filled with joy, but then I pull back again. It continued repeatedly.
A few years of nostalgia, loneliness, and wandering moments.
These moments built the road I am on today.
