以前はYukariという名前のシューゲイズアーティストであった韓国のシンガープロデューサー、アソウルは、暗く陰鬱なドリームポップであったイメージを、名前、サウンド、そして美学の全てにおいて、もっと華やかで、かつ独特なものに変貌させた。彼女の2016年のデビューアルバム『ニューポップ』は、いわゆるK-pop独特の洗練されたエコシステムの外側に存在する、ちょっと奇妙で一味違ったタイプのポップミュージックを反映した、適切なタイトルである。グライムスのアートフルな”ヴィジョン”(2012) のように、『ニューポップ』は、美しく乱雑な調合品、甘い音の至福に輝く沢山の味をフィーチャーした、アイスクリームサンデーのようなアルバムだ。アソウルの一番新しいシングル、『ジョーク』は今年の2月にリリースされた。
Formerly a shoegaze artist by the name of Yukari, South Korean singer-producer Aseul switched up her name, her sound, and her aesthetic, trading in the dark, murky dream-pop of her SoundCloud account for something glossier, though no less off-kilter. Her 2016 debut album, New Pop, was aptly titled, reflecting a different, weirder type of pop that exists outside of corporate K-pop’s uniquely polished ecosystem. Much like Grimes’ artful 2012 Visions, New Pop is a deliciously messy concoction, an ice cream sundae of an album featuring glitching scoops of sweet sonic bliss. Aseul's most recent single, Joke, was released in February of 2019.
NEON BUNNY (Flau artist) 2011年にアルバム『ソウルライト』でデビューし、2012年にベストポップアルバム賞を受賞した韓国・ソウル発のベッドルーム・ポップ・シンガー。2014年にはMTV IggyのArtist of the Weekに、またアルバム「Stay Gold」から先駆けて公開されたシングル「It’s You」がPitchforkの「20 Essential K-Pop Songs」に選出されるなど、欧米からの注目も非常に高い。アメリカの人気プロデューサーMark ReditoのプロジェクトSpazzkidと共演したシングル「Daytime Disco」がStaRo、Kero Kero Bonitoのリミックスと共に話題となる中、ニューアルバム「Stay Gold」を発表。 Im Yu-Jin aka Neon Bunny – Is a South Korean Indie singer and a songwriter. She debuted as a solo artist with her album Seoulight, winning her the award for Best Pop Album in 2012 in Korea.
CRYSTAL (Flau artist)
JusticeのGaspard AugeとSurkinに発掘され、フランスのレーベルInstitubesよりデビューしたシンセサイザーバンド。70年代後半から80年代のニューウェーブ、インダストリアル、テクノ、エレポップ、ゲームミュージックに影響を受けたサウンドで注目される。2013年にはSound Pellegrinoより、レーベル主宰のTeki Latexをゲストに迎えたタイトル曲を含むEP “GET IT” を発表。よりクラブ志向のサウンドに進化を遂げ、EP収録曲の “Telephonic” はJuno Downloadの2013年度Electro部門のスタッフピックに選出された。ライブでは、MVを手掛ける映像作家の佐藤晋哉による映像が全編にフィーチャーされ、観客を引きずり込む独特の世界観を展開。2015年末、flauよりリリースされたファーストアルバム『Crystal Station 64』は、Jean Michel Jarre、Talking Heads、Art Of Noise、Telexなどへの捩じれたオマージュが早送りで散りばめられたようなオールドスクール・エレクトロ／シンセポップの秀作となっている。
Tokyo based synth group CRYSTAL have been playing music for over a decade. Their music was discovered by Justice and Surkin on Myspace and was debuted on the legendary label Institubes, which led the French Electro movement together with Ed Banger. They have performed live with Boys Noize and Para One among others. Influences like Jean-Michel Jarre, Talking Heads, Art Of Noise and Telex playfully collide in this twisted homage to old-school Electro and Techno Pop.

京都出身のSSW/プロデューサー。どこか不気味さの漂うボーカルと多様な音楽性が混在するトラックは唯一無二であり、blue OG natsuki 名義でラップも行うなど、あらゆる枠を飛び越えシームレスに活動している。個人での制作以外にもロサンゼルスのレーベル〈TAR〉から食品まつり a.k.a foodmanとのコラボ楽曲を発表、田我流の3rd アルバム『Ride On Time』へ参加、落合陽一氏が統括ディレクターを務めたSXSW2019に出展された経済産業省主催日本館への楽曲提供など、様々なフィールドで活躍している。
A singer-songwriter based in Kyoto, NTsKi’s music which mixes somewhat eerie vocals and diverse musicality is like no other. She crosses over any kind of boundaries, e.g. raps by the name of “blue OG netsuke”. In addition to her own production, her accomplishments in various fields includes: a collaborations song with Foodman from the LA label, “TAR”; participating in Togaryu’s third album, “Ride on Time”; and providing music to the Japan Pavilion exhibited at SXSW2019 with Yoichi Ochiai acting as general director and sponsored by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
