【山・谷・河】文化の発展には地形からの影響が強いといわれ、特に谷は自然と人が集まりやすい村や文化が生まれます。
この渋谷の地形こそ渋谷独自の文化を発展させてきました。
坂道に建つTRUNK(HOTEL) CAT STREETのデザインはこの地形と地層から取り入れられ谷に徐々に積み重なっていく横の構成美で作られており、また渋谷という産業文化のインスピレーションから産業資材であるH鋼をストレート上に配置し横のラインを表現しています。
使用するマテリアルは地形を作り上げる土・石・木・鉄などにこだわり東京産の素材などローカルな素材も積極的に取り入れながら建物と街が一緒に年を重ねることができることをコンセプトにしています。
建物が年月を経ても「美」と捉え、それが街に溶け込みさらなる「味」となり溶け込んでいく。TRUNKは時代を超えて【新たな価値】を生みだせる建物を目指します。
Shibuya is known for the many hills and valleys throughout the city, with streets like Miyamasu-zaka and Dougen-zaka forming radially from the Shibuya Crossing Mountains, valleys, rivers How cultures evolve is greatly influenced by the landscape of the location, and valleys are especially an easy place for people to gather and form towns and villages.
This is precisely how Shibuya has been the leader in innovative changes and cultural growth.
TRUNK(HOTEL) CAT STREET was designed to be constructed on a hill landscape, with the architecture stretching both horizontally and vertically with multiple beautiful layers. Inspired by the industrial history of Shibuya, we incorporated those materials into the architecture such as H-beams and fixated on using high quality local stones, wood, iron that would age well as time passed.
We wanted a piece of architecture that would withstand the test of time for years to come and still maintain its “beauty”. TRUNK strives to break down any walls between generations and bring in a new sense of value from our unique ideas and innovative designs.
